Aero Fairing On The New Magna |
The Aero-foil I have is a handlebar mount with the standard handlebar clamps and bar extension to the windshield. I was "test" fitting the fairing for Swanee so I do not know what their basic hardware will consist of (they sent me a misc. assortment to play with.) I was able to mount it with the supplied hardware using a U bolt and a portion of an L bracket. This will work well if the holes in the bracket are repositioned. The main drawback will be the complete obstruction of the front turn signals. My solution to this was a set of Memphis Shades turn signal relocation brackets. I used these as a lower fairing mount in addition to relocation the signals. I had to manufacture a longer "arm" from a standard aluminum 1" X 1/8" bar so the signals would clear the fairing but hopefully Swanee will incorporate that into their installation package. The fairing rides great. It uses "Aeroflo" vents to fill the backdraft and equalize pressure that are quite large and much more effective than the Rifle's "Air Balance" system. I first installed a Rifle "Roadster" on my bike, which looked great but the wind buffeting was totally unacceptable at speeds over 60mph. Here are some pictures of the end results.
