Tony's Magna Barn
(and Carmel's Magna Emporium)

This section will chronicle my history with the Magna and the various modification I have done over the years.

This is a photo of my original 1984 V65 Magna. It was taken in January, 1995. It Had 60,000 + miles on it at the time. I purchased it in April, 1991 with 4,000 original miles. The chrome was added in two stages, one lot of pieces in 1993, and the other in 1994. In July, 1995, it met it's earlydemise with a mere 70,000 miles on it. See "Suspension Horror Story" for details.

"Bimbized"
After the 1984 wiped out, I was Magnaless for almost 2 months. It took me that long to find one in decent shape. I kept looking at bikes that were in "mint" condition. The owners "Mint" condition bikes were in worse shape than my wiped out 1984. They also wanted top dollar. Finally, I found this 1986, with 13,000 miles, original owner. No, there wasn't any chrome on it at the time!! Of Course, I couldn't leave the 1986 chromeless! As luck would have it, none of the chrome on the 1984 was damaged in the crash. Off with the old, dull aluminum & black! On with the
gleaming chrome!!  And while I was at it, after tiring of soft saddlebags hitting the exhaust, getting soaked, and causing general headaches in my cross country trips, I took the plunge and invested in a set of GIVI hard luggage. It is the ultimate! The fairing shown in this photo is not recommended. Read about that on the fairing page. I have since substituted for a full frame version. After years of searching, I finally found a fairing worthy of the Magna. The Pichler Uni-4. As of the day before the accident, it was unpainted, thats why its not shown in this photo. I've gotten some snide remarks about the aestetics of the black fairing on the red bike..

After the accident, I purchased 'The Perfect Magna.'  It truly was a sight to behold.  It had 4000 original miles, and looked like it was still on the showroom floor.  The engine was super high gloss black, none of the rubber or plastic was even slightly faded, and everything looked perfect.  It truly was 'The Perfect Magna.'  Well, almost perfect.  It needs chrome and the pichler fairing, which will be added soon!
