chromeless. Note the airbox sidecovers! Some of the following steps are out if order, to provide a coherent presentation. Complete! Insertion Of Chrome Complete! Get Rid Of Those Phillips Screws!! Insertion Of Chrome
There are two steps to this. The first step is to
take the undamaged chrome from the 'bimbized' Magna and put it
on the perfect Magna. Second, the damaged chrome must be replated, or
replaced. So, in keeping with the previous models, a chrome list follows:
Items Previously Chromed |
Rechromed Items |
I Decided not to
chrome the oil pan, since it just gets pitted really easily. The centerstand may be
a future item. The head bolts always pit & corrode. Chroming them seems the only answer! Since I was getting stuff chromed anyway, I decided to get a few little extras.

Synthetic Oil, Gear
Oil & Orange Anti-Freeze
IMO, Synthetic oil is a must! I have never had a problem
with 'clutch slippage' as many people fear.
Prepare For The Pichler Fairing
The fairing for the Magna! Installation was a lot easier
this time around, since I no longer tried to solder out all the stock connectors. I
just bundled them on the side, and tie-strapped them out of the way! I had the fairing repaired,
and it came out excellent! All of the seams were welded over by Howard's in Las
Vegas. There was no longer any need to use molding!
Relocate The Footpegs
Still underway! Stay tuned for details! The general
idea is this: The V65 Sabre footpegs mount to the frame through the rear engine
mount, the same engine mount on the Magna (since the engine is the same) Therefore,
the shift linkage should be the same, and the results will move the footpegs rearward
about 3", providing a more comfortable ride.
Progressive Suspension
Front Springs and Rear Shocks
What an improvement over stock!
Lower Front End & Rear
As with the previous Magna, I lowered
the front and rear of the bike. This improved handling, and allowed me to
actually have bent knees when stopped with the bike!
Dyna Rev Limiter
To Be installed soon!
K&N Filter
Installed! Don't get stuck with a Uni filter!!
Mustang Seat (with a Corbin As Backup)
Radio
CD Player etc. This is an ongoing project, trying to
find a good in-dash Radio/CD player with waterproof speakers! I might just put in an
amplifier with a Sony Discman!
Choosing a radio for the Magna was a hard decision. The choices were slim.

Braided Steel Brake Lines
I decided to make my own out of line purchased from Summit
racing and Jeggs Auto Racing. They came out fantastic! More to come!!
The Frying Connector
This needs replacement. Details soon!
Custom Paint
The bike came with a great stock paint job, but
since I had to paint the Pichler fairing anyway, I decided to have the whole thing
painted. The color was 'Candy Apple Red over Pearl Red, with Dark Red
Highlights.' I also had some custom lettering. Photos soon!
