1.1 INTRODUCTION

This is the FAQ for the sci.engr.electrical.compliance newsgroup. It supersedes the "Pre-FAQ: Sources of EMC & Safety Compliance Information" which was posted to sci.physics.electromag monthly from January 15, 1996 until April 4, 1996 pending the establishment of the s.e.e.c newsgroup.

This FAQ was created and maintained by, Bill Lyons bill@lyons.demon.co.uk or w.lyons@ieee.org, until September 1, 2001.   The torch has been passed to Charles Purwin as of September 1, 2001. Charles welcomes suggestions for additions or amendments to the FAQ.  A brief announcement will be posted to s.e.e.c approximately monthly, indicating any changes or updates to the web based FAQ, with pointers in the following related newsgroups:
